By Gulf Stream Riders
From the album Young Heroes
Gulf Stream Riders, aka Ceej Anderson and Nalle Ahlstedt, are former members of a hard rock band that had a record deal with Warner Music in Scandinavia and toured the clubs in LA. After a breakup that lasted many years, with Ceej studying back home in NY and Nalle writing for artists around the world, they reunited to pursue the longtime dream of making the kind of music closest to their hearts; country.
Young Heroes is an updated version of a tune Ceej and Nalle released in the early 90’s. The resulting changes to the lyric end up being a conversation between former and current selves. The largely unchanged verse lyrics are full of optimism for the future. The revised chorus lyric is full of gratitude for the creative process. The syncopated guitar riff, slide guitar accents, and bittersweet vocals weave together nicely, then builds into a big, rolling, infectious chorus to bring it home.
The photograph used as cover-art is their old band Wighthouse Wanderland from the 90’s.
