Creating Chant #68

Creating Chant #68

Creating Chant #68
Jeremy showed up at the studio one day, saying he thought of a great melody on the way here. We recorded just him and his guitar. I said it sounded like a chant. Within a half hour I came up with the lyrics, and in a three-hour session we had the whole song mapped out. Tommy Kelly is the singer, Jeremy Bates playing guitars, Tommy Whiteman on drums, and Matt Blocher playing keyboards Chant #68 came into being.

Chant #68 Lyrics

Hey, hey, hey
We’re in the world
Hey, hey, hey
of many dances.

Hey, hey, hey
Living the life
Hey, hey, hey
of many trances.
Here we go . . .

Hey, hey, hey
Climbing a tree
Hey, hey, hey
Of many branches.

Hey, hey, hey
It’s all about
Hey, hey, hey
Our frail chances.
Here we go . . .

Hey, hey, hey
We’re in the world
Hey, hey, hey
of many dances.

Hey, hey, hey
Living the life
Hey, hey, hey
of many trances.

Hey, hey, hey
Something about the future:

Hey, hey, hey
It always reaches into the past.

Here we go:

Hey, hey, hey
Something about the future:

Hey, hey, hey
It always reaches into the past.
Here we go now:

Stones by Jamie Linney aka Tayrn

Jamie Linney aka ‘Tayrn’ (pronounced ‘Tay-ren’) is a hazel eyed singer/songwriter and producer from England. Tayrn released his first single ‘Stones’ (featuring Dave Thomas Junior) in January 2018 ‘An astonishing folk gem, ‘Stones’ is notable for its subtly voiced lyrical forays and precisely articulated rhythm, which add poise to the song’s inherent magnetism. Like a whisper in your ear ‘Stones’ is an intimate conversation that draws you in close’

Miss the high tide Miss the low light The simple things that hide I saw that couple from the plane At the baggage reclaim They said they had a nice life Living down by the coastline She told me when I wake up in the morning Iv already done enough to make her proud Darling thats the most at peace Iv ever felt Run your circles around me Cast your stones over me I miss December Miss her The simple things that hide What time you closing mate That machines just stole my note Can I stay with you Till my twitch stops Is that back door locked We could sleep in the back In the morning we’ll drive Out of this headspace Broken teeth and late night crashes Hoarse voice and a broken bandage She told me when I wake up in the morning Iv already done enough to make her proud Darling thats the most at peace Iv ever felt Run your circles around me Cast your stones over me Already done enough to make me proud.
